I would like to end this month, by dedicating this edition of the NNMH Bulletin to an editorial about how October 2008 impacted me on a very personal level. More than the success of the campaign, this month marked the tenth anniversary since the inception of C ...

What questions do we ask that will make the greatest impact on our constituency. The first answer is easier than we might think... start organizing now!... ensure folks are registered for the vote, an ...

Ghandi said, "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win"
We (consumers) have been ignored for centuries ... ask all of those who had gone before us. Laughed at for years ... ask anyone who has been a token at any decision making table in the last half of the 20th century. Or anyone who has asked for money to support their peers within the community and have been offered a pitance of support compared to other community based organiz ...

By sharing their stories, the courageous "faces" of our campaign are helping bring mental illness out from the shadows. Their experiences are proof that through proper diagnosis, treatment and awareness, people with mental illnesses can live ...

When I was first asked to write this article, I spent sometime thinking about how I wanted to approach the topic. I decided to do what I do best and talk about Recovery from my perspective. Having lived with a diagnosed mental illness for over thirty years and realizing that I actually have had the illness for closer to fifty years, I find it interesting and shocking that my first introduction to the idea of Recovery from a mental illness came only four years ago while in Georgia training to bec ...
