When people ask me “what do you do for a living?” and I tell them I work in advertising and communications, I sometimes get disapproving looks. I’ll be the first to admit, the advertising industry can be evil, oh so very evil. However more frequently as of late, major corporate brands are stepping up their Corporate Social Responsibility game. And then I am reminded that there are great people behind a lot of the big brands we label as “evil”.
For example, Burger King did something beautiful for this year’s Pride festivities in San Francisco.

The customers’ reactions speak volumes about where we are in terms of equal rights in our society. What a simple idea. It actually made me tear up as well. This is encouraging to see big brands like Burger King, show their customers they support LGBT rights. I hope more big brands follow suit and we continue to make strides in the fight for equal rights. I think I’ll go have a Whopper for lunch today.
